Barangay Canlambo is one of the 23rd barangays under the Municipal Government of Larena, a 4th-class Municipality in the province of Siquijor.
According to ancient history, the name of this barangay originated from the word “LAMBO”. This was because, during the Spanish occupation a certain JUAN ACAIN, a native of the barrio was appointed as “CABESA DEL BARRIO” and was ordered to consult the residents as to what will be the name of the barrio. Considering the place along the coast, the residents are fishermen. They agreed that the name of the barangay must bear the name of a fish since all fishermen usually catch the big and good class reddish fish called “LAMBO” which means fish with the prefix “CAN” to make it “CANLAMBO”.
